The Tennessee Court of Appeals is an intermediate appellate court that focuses on civil matters, reviewing decisions from trial courts and certain state boards and commissions.

The court has 12 judges who sit in panels of three. Panels meet monthly in Knoxville, Nashville, and Jackson, and the court can also hold sessions in alternate locations when needed, including settings that serve the Chattanooga area.
