The Basic Facts in the Aaron Hernandez Case

Just a short time ago, Aaron Hernandez signed a $40 million dollar contract with the New England Patriots as a tight end. Now, he sits behind bars accused of murder, his bright future appears to be lost. Awaiting trial on one murder charge, Hernandez is also suspected of committing two others. Prosecutors claim Hernandez shot and killed Aniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado in 2012 after an altercation with them in a bar. It appears Hernandez may have snapped after one of them men bumped into him and spilled a drink on him.

The claim is Hernandez stalked the pair after he became angered that they did not apologize. The evening ended with the shooting. Hernandez is also accused and being held in Massachusetts for killing Odin Lloyd in 2013. Investigators say Lloyd dated Hernandez’s fiancé’s sister. They claim a series of seemingly inconsequential events involving another nightclub altercation led Hernadez into a simmering rage that resulted in him shooting Lloyd.

Hernandez’s defense team has stated their belief that the case against Hernandez is inconsequential. No murder weapon was found and one of the key witnesses appears to have faltered in his testimony.
